Dad knew what he was talking about
The rise of Donald Trump as the Republican candidate for U.S. president confirms what my dad, a lifelong Democrat, always said about the GOP; it is the party of and for the rich.
I always considered it just his partisan opinion since Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican to be elected president and he came from a background that was anything but wealthy.
Now I realize Dad knew a lot more than what I gave him credit for.
