Carter still gets my vote

Regarding Holly Carter’s misstatement about a protest involving former council member Garry Bredefeld: I will concur, her statement was apparently proven inaccurate as indicated by the facts. As a result, Ms. Carter apologized to Mr. Bredefeld and his wife, as well as to everyone else.

People make mistakes — we’re only human. But her small misspeak isn’t anything compared to Bredefeld’s huge miscalculation in approving the nearly $50 million boondoggle stadium. His vote was based mostly on false information and rosy projections presented by amateurs who had no clue what they needed to accomplish in terms of financing such a large and complicated project.

As a result of Bredefeld’s vote, the city of Fresno has been forced to pay millions of taxpayer dollars on a project that could have been financed mostly by private investors. If that’s Bredefeld’s idea of “strong leadership,” I hate to think what other votes he will make should he be elected again to the Fresno City Council.

For that reason, on June 7, I’ll be voting for Holly Carter, District 6.
