Scam artists are calling again

You’ve won the sweepstakes of $1.2 million plus a new Mercedes says the voice on the phone. Beware!

I was recently contacted by a “Michael K.” He asked me to deposit $1,200 in a Bank of America account to pay for the registration of the car. I said I don’t remember entering a sweeps. He said I had on such and such a date. He called me many times from two different numbers.

He also gave me a website to check things out. I was not able to navigate any of it.

Here are some things to remember.

A legitimate sweepstakes or contest never asks you to send money to receive money.

Furthermore, a legitimate sweepstakes or contest never notifies you by phone.

And if you don’t remember entering, there’s a catch.
