Way past time to balance federal budget
If you are in a group of people afraid the wrong presidential candidate will get elected, your fear is the result of misdirection.
For the last 50-plus years, the federal government, specifically the House and the Senate, has failed with a perfect record to generate sufficient revenue to pay for the budget and other legislation passed each year. The first priority and primary responsibility of Congress is to pay for the laws and missions they generate and the cost of the organizational structure they authorize.
Please do not accept the position the current representatives and senators are burdened with previous commitments that prevent a solution, and please don’t accept the position that eventually the economy will provide enough wealth to generate sufficient tax revenue to meet the financial commitments of our government. Both are irresponsible myths generated or validated by your elected officials.
We need accountability in Congress. I ask you to support Senate and House candidates that are proponents of legislation requiring that the federal budget and all other legislation be funded by appropriate taxes and asset liquidation before being signed into law.
