Don’t evaluate candidates based on gender
In Billie MacDougall’s April 23 letter, “Women should stand with Clinton,” her position is that women should vote for Clinton because she is a female. She cites many of Clinton’s accomplishments, which in some circles are considered questionable. In fact, it would be more appropriate to state they were positions she held, whether she accomplished anything positive or not.
To say “Give her four years, then evaluate again” is not the way to consider any candidate wishing to become president of the United States. Evaluate her first, and if you find her to be your candidate of choice, then vote for her.
It is inappropriate to attempt to “shame” a woman for not supporting Clinton because she is a female.
Vote for a candidate because of professionalism and leadership ability – not because of political party, and definitely not because of gender.
