Why no arrests from ’08 financial crisis?

I am grateful The Bee printed the article by Phil Angelides (April 17) on the work of the commission he headed up, that investigated the large banks that nearly destroyed our economy, and the world economy with it, by their criminal deceit and manipulation of the loan industry.

My question is, in a nation that is governed “by the people” (and that means by you and me) how do we do our part to see that the criminals who perpetrated these crimes are prosecuted?

Mr. Angelides pointed out that the commission turned the evidence over to the Justice Department for prosecution, but not a single perpetrator of these crimes has yet faced criminal charges or gone to jail. As he commented, this ensures that the same people will do it again, since they had no just consequences.

I ask in all sincerity, what can I, and the rest of us who govern our nation, do to make our government work in this particular problem? Where do we start?
