Hate only breeds more hate

In regard to the April 6 letter from Obie R. Silverwood: While I support his freedom to voice his opinion, I feel threatened by his talk of a revolution.

This kind of talk is something we expect to hear from a group such as ISIS. The letter’s hypocritical tone talks about “leftists” telling everyone what to say, think and do while he seems to be doing the same thing.

He attacks the undocumented, gay people, African Americans, non-Christians, educators and anyone who believes in tolerance and diversity. While he complains about assaults against Donald Trump and his supporters, he has no problem verbally assaulting liberals and those who do not agree with him.

Freedom isn’t free and goes beyond just those that have fought for it on the battlefield. To earn freedom the price we pay is to allow others to live free without judgment or persecution.

When we can accept others as they are and love all as Christ did we give ourselves the gift of freedom. Hate only breeds more hate, bitterness and unhappiness.

I wish Mr. Silverwood the best and hope that he finds happiness and peace of mind loving his fellow man.
