Silly season hits rock bottom
The silly season of electoral politics is upon us in full bloom. But this cycle is more weeds and wild grasses than flowers. The parties, the candidates, the process and the media’s reporting of it all has sunken below any I can recall from prior election years.
With all the problems in today’s world, and the importance of the decisions “we the people” must make in so very few months, you would think (or, hope and pray) that we could learn more about the candidates than who is ugly, dumb, sexist, corrupt, a socialist, a racist or any other of the labels thrown out to demean.
Talking points, labels and those terrible ads by PACs which allow the candidate to benefit from, but disavow, the most despicable of allegations are not facts, argument, discussion or debate, and they do not enlighten us.
I cannot believe this is the best America can do and I will be glad when it is over, possibly before I even get a vote to pick the contender!
