Solution to cracked sidewalks

While I appreciate getting the sidewalk in front of my home fixed, there’s a way to avoid what is an ongoing problem.

Try a little creative thinking, such as drilling holes on two sides of the trees in the strip. Then fill the holes with rocks so water runs down – causing roots to go down, not spread close to the surface and crack the sidewalk again.
