‘Rosie the Riveter’ park is worth a visit
On Feb. 14, The Bee published a wonderful article on Fresno’s own “Rosie the Riveter,” Marjorie Arnold. My husband and I just returned from a visit to the Rosie the Riveter World War II Home Front National Historic Park on the waterfront in Richmond.
Buildings remain from that era and the story of men and women working together to produce liberty ships and tanks is told in film. The museum houses artifacts of the time.
Henry Kaiser, the father of modern American shipbuilding, insisted on good quality day care for the children of the workers on the assembly line and such care was set up by the federal government across the United States. Google the site, and take a side trip to a unique place.
