Edison excels in new school rankings

In response to Mackenzie Mays’ article in the Feb. 2 Bee: As a graduate, class of 2014, from Edison High School, I am thankful for the new ranking system.

I was never the best at standardized testing, but I attained decent grades in school. Although Edison was an amazing school, it was never given the recognition it deserved because of the low standardized test scores. Edison was filled with a bunch of high school kids who excelled in classes, never got in trouble in their lives, and studied day and night for tests.

But despite the adherence to school policy, it was seen as a school in the ghetto that delinquents were condemned to go to. To see Edison ranked highly among Fresno Unified Schools shows how much the school can excel. Regardless of the badmouthing of Edison, it was a true honor to go to this school. I’m glad that the ranking system has given the underdog schools the acknowledgment they deserve.
