Dress code is all about respect

The article and picture in the Feb. 7 Bee regarding the disrespectful students of Buchanan High School was terrible. The boys in dresses looked so stupid, and the guy who wants to wear his hair long because of his heritage was ridiculous.

All of our forefathers had long hair. Maybe it was because they didn’t have as many barbers as we have today. Some never got a haircut and some never took baths. So are the kids of today going to not take baths because its their heritage?

These kids need to take responsibility for doing what is right. Follow the rules. As adults, they will appreciate that opportunity. This needs to start with the parents who allow this kind of behavior from their kids.

I was in high school in the 1960s, and the girls wore dresses and the boys wore pants and dress shirts. Without a dress code, we can only hope that our kids have the sense to look and be respectful. Get a haircut. Boys, put on your pants and girls, please act like ladies.
