Proper funding is vital to schools
In response to “Where should new state money for education go – Teacher pay raises? Classroom?” (Jan. 31 by Judy Lin of CALmatters.org):
As taxpayers, more often than not, we expect well-funded schools and desire top education for our children. But when a proposed tax increase is brought to the table, we are resistant. It’s important that Californians understand the benefits of a temporary tax increase. That will not only benefit all of our schools and teachers but will be in place to better the education for our children. The choices they will eventually make will greatly impact the world we live in.
We need to do our part to ensure they are educated, and we are doing all we can for them. We need to extend this temporary tax increase. In addition, far too often teachers are expected to purchase supplies for their classrooms. In no other profession would this be tolerated. This issue must be brought to our attention and dealt with accordingly.
