Trump is not Abe Lincoln

The main reason Donald Trump gives for us to vote for him is that he is a “winner.” When Iowa proved that he wasn’t as much of a winner as he thought, he whined that he had been cheated. I guess “winning” is defined by multiple bankruptcies and trying to exercise eminent domain by seizing private property for his personal gain.

Abraham Lincoln ran for the Illinois Legislature and lost. He failed as a business man. He didn’t file for bankruptcy. Instead, it took him 17 years to pay off his debts. He ran for Congress and lost again. He ran for the U.S. Senate and lost. Then he was elected president of the United States.

In all, he was described as a humble man, an introspective man, a man of compassion, a man who was faithful to the end to a difficult wife – in other words, the anti-Trump.

Trump is the Wizard of Oz: all smoke and mirrors, bluster and intimidation, and no substance. When will someone pull back the curtain to reveal what he really is?

Thank God for “losers” like Lincoln. May God protect this nation from “winners” like Trump.
