Jane Austen’s brilliance is bludgeoned

Ugh! That’s my reaction upon seeing the front-page zombie photo in the latest disgusting movie review (the “disgusting” refers to the movie). The second enlarged photo for “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” on the front of the Entertainment section elicited sounds I don’t know how to spell.

Jane Austen, if she were alive, could sue for defamation or misrepresentation of a character.

Why is it always women who are exposed, gnarled, mangled, bludgeoned and what have you? Are we just dumb or suckers? Are dummies automatically suckers? Talk about prejudices.

Marjorie Berry, Coarsegold
