Bull terriers are wonderful dogs

Shame on The Fresno Bee for publishing the Jan. 12 letter vilifying pit bulls. Pit bull is not a breed, but a term used to describe the American Bull Terrier.

We recently lost our 17-year-old rescue bull terrier Buddy. He was a favorite at the dog parks and with all of his pals. Bull terriers are no different than any other breed of dog. I suggest the writer of the letter watch Cesar Milan (“The Dog Whisperer”) videos showing Cesar’s bull terriers, Junior and Daddy. Because of their calm demeanor, they accompany Cesar to help evaluate behaviorally challenged and aggressive dogs.

If you own a bull terrier, you know the loyalty and gentleness of this breed. The Little Rascals’ dog, Petey, and Gen. George Patton’s dog, Willie, were bull terriers. Fellow bull terrier owners, please be good ambassadors for your dogs. Don’t allow the uninformed bull terrier haters of this world to turn the public against these wonderful dogs!
