Yosemite’s names will never fade away

As a Californian, my attachment to Yosemite is personal. How is it possible that such an iconic part of the national park could be sold to the highest bidder? The Ahwahnee Hotel has been visited by presidents, heads of state and celebrities from countries all over the world. The names, now a part of our history, are intrinsic with “Yosemite.”

Yosemite is not Disneyland or some manufactured theme park, it is one of nature’s marvels and the names that were chosen reflect the essence of the park. Ahwahnee, Wawona, Curry, Badger and Tenaya will always be associated with Yosemite, and I will not call them otherwise.
