Can’t afford to fly out of Fresno
In the Jan. 24 Arts and Culture column, Don Munro rants about flying in and out of Fresno yet says that “a Fresno fare is often in the same ballpark as flights out of the Bay Area or L.A.”
I don’t know where he books his tickets, but we disagree. To fly two grandchildren down from Portland just after Christmas, the fare to Fresno was over $600 more for the two tickets than to fly them into Sacramento. For an international trip last year, the price for a family of four was about $1,000 higher from Fresno than from L.A.
Such a differential makes it much cheaper to drive out of town even when parking and an overnight hotel is included. Mr. Munro invites us to share our “Fresno air travel woes” but we have no such woes, since we can’t afford to fly out of Fresno.
