Others should follow Fresno’s ‘tiny houses’
The city of Fresno has approved “tiny houses” and is allowing them to co-exist with other homes. But how are they different than motor homes and trailers?
Most cities prohibit RVs for living long term and most homes are built for one family. If you want a multifamily home with an extra kitchen and so forth, you have to get special zoning for that. There are those who bought homes in the early days, who had guest homes, and could take care of their parents or those who were handicapped.
We need to understand that the single-family unit is decreasing in our society, where one salary just does not make it. It is time other cities see this and make it easier for folks to take care of their own easier.
