Cut back on MLK march speeches
I attended the Martin Luther King Jr. walk downtown. It was to start at 10 a.m. and I arrived 10 minutes early. They were having a food drive, so I brought two bags of food. I went all over City Hall looking for a receptacle to put the food. Nothing. I put the bags down next to a wall and opened them so they could not be mistaken for something deadly.
A lot of people were there, which was pretty cool given that earlier there had been rain and the sky was still threatening. Speeches and speeches. By 10:30 a.m., probably a quarter of the folks had left and so did I. Please, next year a speech or two but not so many. Extremely disappointing.
