Olivier’s Summerset grandstanding
The excellent Jan. 15 Valley Voices piece by Nu Vang and Sher Moua was poignant and disturbing. Summerset has had these problems for a long time, and a lot of people knew about it.
Which brings me to the grandstanding by Fresno City Councilmember Clint Olivier over the Summerset fiasco. Olivier has been the council representative for that area for a long time. These conditions, and residents throughout his district being victimized by landlords, is a long-standing situation.
Olivier refuses systematic reforms, refuses routine inspections that would make it so the citizens of Fresno would not be living in uninhabitable conditions like these. He has established a pattern as a city council member of not standing up for the people of his district.
Why would we elect him to a higher office in the Assembly, where he could do even more harm to even more people?
