Good job, Fresno City Council, in setting liquor store limits

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the Fresno City Council’s unanimous vote on Dec. 17 to move forward in reducing the saturation of liquor stores within a one-mile radius of schools.

Statistics have continuously proven that there are strong links between the number of liquor stores in a given area and the amount of crime within that same area. I believe that we must do everything in our power to reduce the negative influences and unhealthy choices in our beloved city.

It has been said, “What we allow, we teach,” and we need to teach our youth that we care very much about our community by speaking out on issues such as this. Again, I thank the city council for their important vote on this topic.
