Help homeless via First Steps Home

I, Chris, am 18 years old; my younger brother, Nick, and I were raised in Fresno. Recently, I left to attend the University of California, Berkeley, where I became aware of the sizeable homeless challenge. My interactions with the homeless in Berkeley made me wonder how my brother and I could address homelessness in Fresno.

Nick and I have watched people giving small donations to the homeless on Fresno street corners, a sign that our compassionate community wishes to make a difference. However, we wonder if these sporadic small gifts truly make an impact.

Recently, we read about Fresno First Steps Home in The Fresno Bee. We discovered that Fresno First Steps Home is an organized effort that provides individuals with shelter, professional help and an opportunity to become self-sufficient.

This Christmas, our family made a donation to Fresno First Steps Home to improve the lives of individuals who reside on our streets. We encourage Fresno’s residents to help our homeless by taking the “buck a month” pledge.

Join us as we take our first step with Fresno First Steps Home and make a donation today by visiting fresnofirststepshome.org. Together, our community can make a difference.

Christopher and Nicholas Rouillard, Fresno
