President snubs American people with executive action on guns

The Bee headline on Jan. 2 should have read, “The President snubs the American people again” rather than touting that the president is willing to go it alone on gun control.

While the president usurps the separation of powers concepts that are engrained in our Constitution with another “end-run around Congress” executive action, his answer to domestic terrorism is to make it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to protect themselves.

He is also getting ready to release 17 detainees from Gitmo this weekend. These are not “taxi-drivers or cooks” but terrorists whose names are being withheld (some transparency?) from us because the White House knows the political and legal challenges would come in a flash.

The citizens of this nation in poll after poll have stated clearly that they feel less safe under this president, and now he releases terrorists to go and rejoin their colleagues in the fight against us.

Had there been a single permitted concealed weapon in that room in San Bernardino, it is entirely plausible that the death count would have been fewer. In fact, the terrorists may have even been afraid to begin the assault knowing someone else might have a weapon.
