Giant sugary soft drinks contribute to obesity
When I was kid during the Depression in the 1930s and home radios were something of a luxury, a jingle we heard often was an ad for Pepsi Cola. “Pepsi Cola hits the spot. Twelve full ounces, that’s a lot. Twice as much for a nickel too. Pepsi Cola is the drink for you.” Coke came in 6-ounce bottles.
Visit any fast-food hamburger joint today and you are offered a sugar-laden soft drink at 20 ounces with free refills. Any wonder that even in children today obesity and type two diabetes are epidemic?
