Fresno City Council shenanigans only stop when they’re caught

Regarding the issues outlined in the Dec. 27 article “Council starts proxy vote,” The Bee did a fantastic job of enlightening us all of about the shenanigans taking place at City Hall.

That anyone on the Fresno City Council thought that it would be acceptable to cast a vote without hearing from the public or witnessing changes to items is outrageous and wrong. More likely is that members like Clint Olivier just thought that they could get away with it.

Nobody was thinking about the Brown Act or simple right and wrong as they were leaving early (or not attending at all) to attend a “Fire Department Christmas Party” or were “sick”, or whatever the case may be.

Have some integrity and do the job you were elected to do.

What is less surprising is that a few of these same council members, Steve Brandau and Olivier, who are in the middle of this muck, are now bailing water out of this sinking boat by trying to ban the practice.

Glad to see that politicians will change their minds on shady political practices – when they’re caught.
