I deserve a healthy neighborhood park
As a student living in Fresno, I see positive changes throughout the city. But existing neighborhoods in south Fresno, remain neglected. I’m outraged with the Fresno City Council and the city of Fresno, for their treatment of hard-working taxpayers who live in southeast and southwest Fresno.
Yes, the city and Fresno Unified School District have agreed to open some schools after hours to be used for play space. Thanks for listening to residents; but this is a short-term solution.
You could develop a park on the free 49 acres the city had for nine years and has done nothing with. The claim that there isn’t money doesn’t ring true – staff bonuses and $9 million for park in northwest Fresno! Where are my tax dollars going?
What a shame to know the city and city council are willing to break their promises affecting people with the most need.
Elected officials should know an investment in parks is an investment in youth and families. It’s a place to play, and connect with my family. It’s a place to be healthy, and it should be a safe place.
My community deserves more parks. I’m worth the investment and I deserve a healthy Fresno.
