Let new employers pay for elections
California Assemblymember Henry T. Perea will not be the last state legislator to dump his sworn responsibilities because he got a more lucrative job offer.
I suggest that we Californians pass a law to defray the cost of the special elections caused by legislators who lose interest in completing their terms. Let the new employer pay the cost of any special election required to fill the vacated office. This is only fair recompense. We can call it “Henry’s Law.”
