Renewal starts with faith, love, hope

A year of shootings, lootings, racial profiling, religious hatred and intolerance, mass protests of inequality and injustice, the rise of ISIS and the political tug of war between Democrats and Republicans as they duke it out with the media in their bid for the upcoming presidential election.

Cynical skepticism has become the new norm. As I reflect on the negativity around us, it is hard to fathom the existence of anything positive in the world. Yet, as I try to find the light at the end of the seemingly endless tunnel, the words of my father come to mind. He would say that there is always something good that comes from those things that we perceive as bad even though, at times, it can be difficult to find the “good.”

I have found that in searching for that “good,” we must have faith. In faith, there is love and with love, hope. With faith, love and hope, it is possible to have peace in this world for “good” does exist. Here’s hoping that 2016 will bring global peace, renewal of the human spirit and respect for life.
