Law enforcement gets special treatment

On Dec. 11, a Bee article titled “Tulare Co. sheriff’s captain arrested,” caught my attention. The article stated that a captain with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office was arrested on a DUI charge and consequently was put on “paid administrative leave.”

The very next day a Bee article published that 10 drivers were arrested in a DUI checkpoint in northeast Fresno.

I have a question: Did any of those 10 drunk drivers, who got snared in the Fresno DUI checkpoint, receive a paid administrative leave of absence or get-out-of-jail-free card while they were sitting in the drunk tank?

Did the honorable, public-servant captain have his car impounded? Those 10 other slubs did.

Brings to mind the French phrase, “Ou’ils mangent de la brioche” or “Let them eat cake.”
