Fresno celebrations bring tears of joy
Responding to the letter “Remember Christ’s birth this holiday,” (Dec. 9): I must say that I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments but wanted to share my impressions of two uniquely Fresno events that truly helped boost my holiday spirit and affirm some of the best gifts of this special Christmas season.
While strolling down Christmas Tree Lane during the annual walk, I was surrounded by young people, young families, laughing children, babes in strollers, couples walking their pets, older people arm in arm. Holiday music swirled around us under a canopy of beautiful lights and flanked by scenes of merriment, and representations of Christ’s birth painted by local high school artists.
This is a reflection of the generosity of the lane’s residents and volunteers who underscore the joyous spirit of giving that lies at the heart of Christmas. Open to all!
The following week we attended the Fresno High Home Heritage Tour. Once again, the generous spirit of residents, Fresno High Senate people lifted our hearts. A chorale of students singing lovely spiritual Christmas carols celebrating the birth of Jesus beneath the stars in awe-inspiring, beautiful harmony brought tears to our eyes. A humble and heart-felt thank you to all involved in these events!
