Failed education, parenting, governing created today’s problems

The uproar over Republican potential front runner Donald Trump’s declaration of exclusion for a certain group of people is being labeled unpatriotic, un-American, lunacy, courage, brilliance and downright stupidity.

Whatever the reaction, it needs to be measured by those who decry or support this position. Americans are no longer the “angel children” of the world. America has created a populace of reactionaries by failing the past generations of students and creating a present generation of low-educated, greed-driven, politically corrupt and corporate-minded adults.

No one seems to want to come forward and admit that the system is obsolete and failing. The problems of today are a result of past failures in upbringing, schooling and governance.

Government rules, but does not govern. Schools promote numbers of graduates, not quality of graduates. Policy makers create new policies instead of enforcing current ones.

Those who support Trump’s actions are graduates of America’s high schools. Those who supported President Bush’s “No Child Left Behind” faulty concept are graduates of America’s high schools. Tomorrow’s policy makers will be current graduates of America’s high schools. What does that say about our future? If the shoe fits.
