Guns protect us from government
In his opinion piece, “Time to revisit the Second Amendment,” (Dec. 9) Richard Johanson states that pistols and rifles were “primarily used to shoot wild game for food.”
Anyone with even a basic understanding of history knows the Second Amendment’s main purpose is to provide for an armed populace to protect itself from an oppressive government, like the one our forefathers had just fought to earn our independence.
