Tell Fresno officials your thoughts on Fulton

On Dec. 3, at 1:30 p.m., Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin will ask the Fresno City Council to up the ante of taxpayer money she wants to use for destruction of the Fulton Mall. Please send an email or call the council.

The contract before the council is now estimated at almost $26 million, far exceeding the $17.4 million construction estimate.

Staff initially recommended rejecting all bids, but now recommends that the City Council approve a 32 percent cost overrun!

As the cost of this project climbs, the city continues to cut amenities like signs, bike racks, benches.

Ask yourself and the City Council:

▪ What or who caused the change in the city staff recommendation?

▪ Where are the excess millions of dollars coming from, and what will be neglected to free up those dollars?

▪ Who are the people who want to turn Fulton Mall into a street no matter what amenities are sacrificed?

Email council members using their first name dot last name, @fresno.gov, or give them a call at 621-8000, leave a message. Better yet attend the meeting Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Make your voice heard.
