Airport’s abhorrent rules on Uber
I recently returned on a flight from San Diego late on a Saturday night and decided to get a ride home from the airport using Uber. I had used Uber to get me to the San Diego airport and had a very pleasant experience and saved almost 50% versus cab fare.
I waited all of three minutes to be picked up for my trip to the airport. So I decided when I got to Fresno, I’d just use Uber to get from the Fresno airport to my home in northwest Fresno, typically about a $40 cab ride.
Come to find out, Uber can neither pick up nor dislodge a customer on Fresno airport premises! In order to use Uber, we had to drag our suitcases out to the street in front of the airport – a quarter-mile walk. The driver informed us that they are subject to a $1,000 fine if they violate this policy.
I fail to see how this policy benefits the community in any way. Typical small-town thinking has created an abhorrent policy. Fresno continues to be a punchline, and it’s no wonder why.
