One year, my sister made the gravy – ha!

Growing up, Thanksgiving was always at our house with Mom, Dad, my sisters and me. As we got older and my sisters got married, Thanksgiving would include their husbands and children.

My mom would always cook a big meal. Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, stuffing and pumpkin pie for dessert.

As the years went by, sometimes the family wasn’t always together. Some would go to their in-laws for Thanksgiving, and some would rotate each year where they went.

One year, my mom had to work on Thanksgiving and it was up to us to make the meal. My sister made the gravy, and it sure didn’t turn out the way that our mother made it! We still tease her about that.

Mom and Dad are gone now, but I still have good memories of family getting together for the holiday.
