Teach children about Camarena, not criminals
Thirty years ago, Drug Enforcement Agent Enrique Camarena was kidnapped, tortured and murdered by the drug cartel in Mexico.
On Nov. 13, Univision Channel 21 had a special segment on one of his assailants, a former Mexican officer who has been in prison since 1985. Adding his name would only give him higher publicity in this upside-down world. He is a painter and his stuff is described as a “testimony to his story.” His stuff is shown in galleries and sells at a high price. What nonsense.
Agent Camarena worked in Fresno and is still remembered by law enforcement. Channel 21 should have focused on the Camarena story instead and how Red Ribbon Week was a result of this. Do schools teach this? Channel 21, fix the story.
