Is Fresno broke or not?

I was appalled at the news report on how Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin handed out $200,000 in bonuses to certain “underpaid” administrative leaders. Really? Most administrative positions at City Hall already make $100,000 or more annually. Doesn’t sound like “underpaid” to me.

In 2013, the mayor tried to privatize the city residential trash collection with Measure G, saying the city could face bankruptcy if it was not privatized. And in 2014, the city hired more than 60 positions in the police department.

I don’t get it, do we have a broke city or not? Somebody is not being truthful in the spending of our taxpayers’ dollars.
