I wouldn’t go to the fair if guns were allowed

Re: A.E. Lantis (letter Oct. 29).: Reality means authentic, true at the time.

Imagine in reality, every person in a classroom of 10 is carrying a gun at the time a person enters the back of the room and is already shooting at them from behind them. Most likely, all will be killed or wounded within a few seconds, including the shooter who kills himself. Also, a shooter usually owns several types of guns.

Most gun-safety enthusiasts believe everyone needs to own and carry a gun. Would that include schoolchildren having a hidden gun in a pocket or a purse to protect themselves from a shooter who might suddenly enter their school room at any moment – maybe?

When I attend the Big Fresno Fair each year, I have no fear for my safety, because each and every person who enters those gates is searched to be sure no one is allowed inside with a gun or other weapon. Otherwise, since I am acutely aware of the dangerous actions possible by those who have guns, I would not go there.
