Let teachers carry guns

There have been several letters during the last few weeks about guns. These included opinions about gun violence, gun control and allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons to school for protection.

As a retired teacher from Clovis Unified School District, I am in favor of all educators being allowed to carry concealed weapons to school. There needs to be stringent guidelines established and specialized training for the educators who have their weapons permits so they could carry to school.

All local school districts should be proactive about allowing all their educators the right to carry concealed weapons to school. This would give the educators the ability to protect themselves, the staff and especially their students.

James A. Feramisco, retired Clovis Unified educator
