Arce’s ‘heartless’ homeless comments

I am responding to the heartless accusations by the Rev. Larry Arce (op-ed Oct. 30) of Fresno Rescue Mission excoriating the homeless people, some of whom he now categorizes as “vagrants,” not worthy of housing nor service until they submit to his edict.

He ascribes himself as “Reverend,” yet he apparently forgot that our Lord considers each and every person of more value than the entire world – including the homeless. I am hopeful that the community will reconcile itself with our Lord’s teaching regarding our responsibility to the homeless and do justice by providing necessary housing first, then services, which is sacrosanct to our mission on Earth.
