The Justice Department recently concluded that no charges would be filed in reference to IRS discrimination against conservative groups.
In May 2013, at the ABA meeting, Lois Lerner apologized for the IRS taking “absolutely inappropriate” action in scrutinizing organizations with the words “Tea Party” or “patriot” in the application. (ABC news). After that, the director of the IRS stepped down. Ms. Lerner was put on leave in May 2013, resigned in Sept 2013 and was held in contempt of Congress in 2014 after invoking the 5th Amendment during a House Oversight Committee (after giving a statement of innocence).
Congress subpoenaed her emails and after long delays was told that her computer hard drive crashed. After more long delays, we found that all 422 back-up tapes with 24,000 of her emails were erased after they were subpoenaed by Congress. (Washington Post)
President Obama stated there is not even a smidgen of corruption at the IRS. False. The IRS pled guilty to releasing names and personal information of the National Organization of Marriage to a gay rights group and was ordered to pay $50,000. We deserve the truth and to know who is accountable for either these deliberate actions, obstruction or gross mismanagement.
