Changes are a must for Fresno Unified

Change is needed because Fresno Unified is failing our kids. Only 2 percent of students are college ready and only 2 percent of English learners met or exceeded expectations in English/language arts on a recent standardized test.

If we can’t educate all of our students across Fresno, we will never have a healthy city. Let’s not fool ourselves: This education crisis is a health issue. A lack of education or a poor education contributes mightily to the crushing poverty that engulfs thousands of our neighbors and this has a tremendous impact on all of us.

The education system needs to change and it needs to work for all students. Our health depends on it.
