As a parent of four students in Fresno Unified School District, I have seen measurable improvement from where we were 10 years ago.
Have we fixed all the problems? No. We still have much to do to improve our school district and the focus needs to remain there.
The improvements we have made to date have occurred because there has been a consistent effort to improve each and every school in this district. This only happens when you are financially stable and have good leadership at the top and throughout the district.
There is a lot of work that needs to be done in many areas such as student achievement and graduation rates. I would encourage the board, the superintendent and the community to stay focused on these goals. It is not just about my kids but it is about all of Fresno having outstanding schools that provide a platform for a successful future.
