Teach ethics before ethnics in public schools
An article in The Bee (Oct. 13) addressed the proposal to teach about ethnicity in public schools.
Much more important should be instruction on ethics; the moral principles subscribed to by all civilized countries. Some of these are: honesty, responsibility, compassion, perseverance, respectfulness, cooperation, civic duty and courage.
All of these can be incorporated in the student’s daily activities, which will prepare them to become good citizens and success in later life.
