Trains: Don’t blow your horns

A few years ago, a government grant provided upgrades to certain railroad crossings to make them horn-free zones. This was supposed to give relief to 28,000 people.

The only problem is that the railroad hasn’t bought into this plan. About 20 percent blast their cruise-ship horns at the crossings. Sometimes Amtrak toots after the crossing.

The only thing my county supervisor would do is give me the Department of Transportation phone number. They couldn’t care less – only interested in wrecks and spills.

Why would I take the train, when they have no respect for the rule or public?
