Hanson should reconsider his life
Why The Bee continues publishing the opinions of Victor Davis Hanson is beyond me. His Oct. 4, diatribe against Pope Francis’ message is merely another of Mr. Hanson’s angry rants.
Many considered Francis’ message to Congress and his other statements to be messages of moral concerns addressed to our nation in its role as leader of the free world. The pope’s message was particularly directed at our constipated and bickering Congress.
Might Mr. Hanson’s rant be because Pope Francis’ message hit directly at nearly every issue for which Mr. Hanson spews the opposition’s argument? Mr. Hanson loses it when he verbally abuses the pope for not moving faster to correct the many past sins of the Catholic Church.
Mr. Hanson perpetuates the misunderstanding that climate change is a natural cycle of long duration, when the rapid rate of global temperature change is the factual problem. Add the 7 billion humans on earth and the greed of unregulated capitalism that are destroying ecosystems and extracting mineral and water resources at an unsustainable rate. We are not mortgaging our children’s future, we are stealing it.
Perhaps Mr. Hanson should reconsider his own life and writings in light of the pope’s message to America.
