Valley school, jobs scene disappoints
All I wanted to do when I was younger was to live in California, and now that I am here, I am greatly disappointed.
I’m disappointed in the lack of opportunity in the Valley. There are actually a few different colleges that someone can go to, but everything is limited. Most of the schools have the same programs. If you go into the health-allied program, you are wait listed and have to deal with the lottery system. Or, you have to pay a lot to go to a college where there is no wait list.
But it’s not just school programs, it’s jobs as well. You can’t get a job unless you have school and experience, so how do you get the experience if you spent all of your time getting the schooling?
This is a vicious cycle and this is what is wrong with the Valley. You can’t afford school or can’t get into the program, yet you can’t get a decent-paying job without school and experience. Employers need to change their requirements and realize that you can get experience on the job. And schools need more options.
