PUC hits solar investments

In the Oct. 4 Bee, Dan Walters reported that there was a proposal pending before the Public Utilities Commission that wants to cut in half what utility companies are paying solar owners for pumping excess juice into the power grid and also pay for the maintenance.

I once lived in a small town where the water started getting low, and people cooperated and let their lawns go brown, etc. Well, what happened? The city water company, after a period of time, raised the water rates sky high because they were not getting enough revenue from water use.

Since so many people are going solar, what is happening here? Is there a sudden realization that too much is being paid for the juice and not there is not as much profit? Solar panels are expensive to install. Does anyone think this is fair?

We are paying high rates for electricity now, and that is why so many of us invested in solar.
