High-speed rail station design should blend with current architecture
I’m absolutely delighted to hear of our local elected officials going to Spain to get a first-hand look of how high-speed rail works.
It’s refreshing to see in the last year the traction for what the majority of Californians voted for in 2008. What I’m interested in seeing are the designs for the station. I pray that while modern, it should harmonize with to early 20th century architecture of the more prominent buildings in the downtown area. It should be something we can be proud of.
Corporate and private sponsorship should be audaciously pursued. Would a clock tower sponsored by a watch company be too far out of the realm of rational thought? Sadly, light rail isn’t in Fresno’s General Plan. Whatever city transit we do end up having, I hope it will be safe and well integrated with the rail station.
